Want to know how to run faster and jump higher? It has always been thought that those with the ability to run fast, jump high and display superior athletic ability were born that way.

We now know that it is not all in genetics, a lot of it has to do with training, technique and dedication.

There are only 2 things that effect running speed, stride rate and stride length.

Stride rate is the rate at which you take steps as you run, and stride length is the amount of ground you cover with each stride.

Those that take more frequent steps will run faster than if they took steps less frequently. If you decide to increase your Stride Length, your speed should also increase. If you combine the two, you now have a third option for increasing speed.

Now that you have a bit of background about how to run faster and jump higher, you may be wondering what exercises you can do to run faster and jump higher.

If your goal is to run faster, you need to practice running. Frequency, intensity and practice in movement and coordination will help you hardwire your brain and train your muscles. Once frequency has been established, it becomes less important in training. Once you’ve reached this point, intensity takes center stage-intensity in improving Intramuscular Coordination is about improving on previous performances.

Instead of doing low intensity drills over and over again, focus on intensity and technique to improve speed.

When training your body to jump higher, it is important to practice your flexibility, explosiveness and strength. If you lack explosiveness, the only way to get it is to practice jumping via plyometrics. Strength comes with time and dedication, and your muscles will need it to deliver the force and power you need to jump.
